Following the success of the 40th Anniversary of Actuarial Education in Australia Conference at Macquarie University in 2008, an Australasian Actuarial Education and Research Symposium will be held at UNSW on Monday 14 December and Tuesday 15 December 2009. The Symposium is co-hosted by the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and UNSW.

The Symposium will include invited keynote presentations, panel discussions and submitted proposals from practitioners, academics and research students. Panel discussions will cover professional education and syllabus topics as well as industry research topics. Sessions will focus on current issues in actuarial education and current research topics from both an industry and academic perspective. The Symposium will provide an opportunity for researchers and industry practitioners to interact and develop potential new research projects. There will be a conference dinner held on the evening of Monday 14 December 2009.

Academics, research students and practitioners are invited to submit proposals or papers for presentation at the Symposium in areas of actuarial education and research.

Announcement & Call for Papers

Proposals should be submitted by Friday 2 October 2009 to Bindya Subba. Full presentations and research papers for accepted proposals will be required by Friday 4 December 2009. All proposals will be reviewed by the Program and Scientific Committee.

Symposium Program

Presentations and papers will be available for downloading prior to the symposium.

Registration

Registration will be required for the Symposium and includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and Symposium dinner.

There are many hotels close to the UNSW Campus. You will need to contact the hotel directly to make your reservations. Some hotels will require credit card details to secure the reservation.

UNSW and Symposium location

The symposium will be held at the UNSW Kensington campus is located 4.5 km from the Sydney CBD (Downtown) and 5 km from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (International and Domestic).

The campus is well served by public transport (buses).

The best way to get to your hotel from the airport is either by taxi or airport shuttle.
