Call for Papers / Submission Details

The Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA) invites you to submit a paper for presentation at its 12th annual conference in Sydney, Australia. University of New South Wales is the host of the conference. The Association welcomes theoretical or applied research papers on risk or insurance topics, including insurance law and regulation/supervision, insurance economics and finance, insurance practice and policy, social insurance, employee benefits, pensions, risk management, financial planning, international insurance issues and insurance education.

The deadline for proposal submission is 15 February 2008.

Your proposal should be in the proposal submission format given below, and must include [1] a cover page containing the proposal title and the contact information of the author (name, affiliation, title, position or student status, postal address, e-mail address and phone/fax number) and [2] a full paper or a minimum 500-word proposal covering the purpose and importance of the research, research methodology and expected results. The proposal/paper in MS Word or PDF format should be e-mailed to:

Professor Sun Qixiang

2008 APRIA Programme Committee Chair

E-mail: apriapaper2008@126.com

All proposal submissions will be subject to review by the Committee members.  Successful proposals are expected to be notified by 30 March 2008.

Full Paper Deadline. Papers for those whose proposals are accepted must submit the full paper in MS Word or PDF format by 1 June 2008 to the Programme Committee Chair to be included in the conference proceedings. Only full papers submitted by the deadline will be included. Authors of accepted papers are required to present their papers at the conference.

Travel Aid. The Association, with the financial support from the conference organizers, provides limited travel aid to selected paper authors coming from economically developing countries and receiving “no” financial support from their universities, government or other entities. The aid assists the recipients with meeting the conference registration fee (excluding APRIA membership fee) and accommodation expenses on twin-sharing basis for four nights. The aid does not cover travel expenses. Applicants for the aid must indicate their desire to apply for the aid and e-mail the Programme Committee Chair [1] a full paper or a detailed proposal meeting the above proposal submission requirements, and [2] their curricular vitae, by the proposal deadline.

Harold Skipper Best Paper Award for Global Insurance. Applicants for this Best Paper Award must submit completed papers by 1 June 2008. Award winner(s) will be announced at the conference. Depending on the number and quality of papers, the Programme Committee may consider a separate Best Paper Award for doctoral research students.

Format for Proposal Submission

The author should use a common font style (e.g., Times New Roman or Arial). Use of a local font style or custom made symbols may cause part of the proposal/paper unreadable. The proposal should include all of the following information. Every proposal is subject to double blind review. Therefore, it is very important for every author to follow the submission guideline.

Information that must be included in the Cover Page:

  • Paper Title (bold-faced and size 14 of font)

  • Organization
  • Position (or Student Status – Master’s or PhD)
  • Full Postal address
  • E-mail
  • Telephone: including country + area code
  • Fax: including country + area code
  • List Keywords of Your Proposal

Information to be Included in the Actual Proposal/Paper, which must start at a new page:

Proposals/papers not conforming to this guideline are liable to be rejected.
