Actuarial
Studies is offered as a major or double major in the actuarial
disciplinary stream in the Bachelor
of Commerce at UNSW. The 3 year Bachelor of Commerce Actuarial
Studies major is designed to cover the latest international
professional syllabus. This program offers the widest choice
of majors of any Australian university actuarial program.
It
is also possible to complete combined degrees including Actuarial
Studies as a major in the Bachelor of Commerce. We recommend
the Bachelor
of Science/Bachelor of Commerce program for students interested
in qualifying as actuaries who have a interest in developing
strong mathematics, computing or statistics skills in conjunction
with the Actuarial Studies Commerce major. This study program
is suited for students wishing to work in quantitative areas
of finance and insurance. This is the first specially designed
program combining mathematics and actuarial studies offered
by any University in Australia.
A
4
year Co-op program is available. Industry scholarships are offered to students in the program. This was the first Actuarial Studies Co-op program on offer in Australia.
Master
of Actuarial Studies covering the Part I and Part II subjects
of the Institute of Actuaries is also available. This Masters
program also includes quantitative risk management courses and
allows options to be included along with Part II courses for
actuarial graduates of university programs.
